Y.A.M. SC EASTERN REGION YOUTH ART SHOW Mar. 10-16

Youth Art Month (Y.A.M.) is a national celebration in the month of March. To celebrate the arts in our community, Conway Glass is hosting the S.C. Eastern Region Y.A.M. Art Show March 10th – 16th. Jen Pierce with Horry County Schools has organized this outstanding event with 25 schools in three counties participating. Over 120 works of art will be on display. Come see student artwork ranging from painting and sculpture to cut paper, found objects and much more. More on the Art Museum’s fabric-rich exhibitions

To complement the Art Museum’s fabric-rich exhibitions – Gee’s Bend: From Quilts to Prints and  Stitchin’ and Pullin’: Painted Illustrations by Cozbi Cabrera  – the Art Museum is proud to present 12 works from our rich Permanent Collections, pieces that  reference and explore fabric and other forms of fiber in a variety of ways. Included in The Fabric of Our Collection is Burgess, The Legacy, a photo-collage quilt by Carolynne Miller and three works by Jonathan Green. This exhibition  is open through April 23, 2017.

Brittany Leonard awarded Best in Show at CCU

Dr. Easton Selby, chair of the Art Dept. makes the award Thursday night at the Senior Exhibit in the Bryan Gallery.  Brittany’s work is about how a bad, unhealthy relationship can tear a person a part.

Yvette Cummings wins BIG at the 701 CCA Prize in Columbia

    Conway, S.C., artist Yvette L. Cummings last night won the 701 CCA Prize 2016 for South Carolina artists 40 years and younger. Cummings was announced as the winner during the December 1 701 CCA Prize Celebration at Columbia’s 701 Center for Contemporary Art. Music Salon for CCU Scholarships

One of Linda Ketron’s many activities is arranging 2 or 3 primarily piano “Salons” each year to raise money for scholarships for CCU music students under the auspices of Dr. Philip Powell, Chair of the Dept.  So far, the salons have been at two private residences in Murrells Inlet and Pawleys Island where there are grand pianos.  This recent salon featured (in order of performance) Deiondre Mack, Fariba Lale, Chris Scheu (guitar) and Christopher Wright.
