The Arts Grand Strand awarded grant from SC Arts Commission

(Murrells Inlet, July 8, 2016) Myrtle Beach Cultural Calendar, non profit corp., has been awarded a Quarterly Grant by the South Carolina Arts Commission funded in part by a generous award from the John and Susan Bennett Memorial Arts Fund of the Coastal Community Foundation of SC. for the 2017 fiscal year. The support will enable it to continue to support the fine arts all along the Grand Strand through its website www.TheArtsGrandStrand.org. and facebook page Facebook.com/The Arts Grand Strand.

The Arts Grand Strand is a unique resource to the area providing a guide to and calendar of just the fine arts offerings from Calabash to Georgetown. Over 600 events are covered annually. Its goal is to make it easy for people to know what is going on and therefore increase participation. It also provides a forum for artitists, performers and arts organizations to promote and discuss their work. Finally, it seeks to expand and enhance the image and brand of greater Myrtle Beach.

“The South Carolina Arts Commission Grant will enable The Arts Grand Strand to strengthen its reach into the community helping the arts to flourish and enrich the lives of our residents and visitors.” said John Morken, Executive Director of Myrtle Beach Cultural Calendar.

In addition to its calendars, the website contains articles, interviews and reviews. There are also sections devoted to high school events, teachers and classes, calls for artists and auditions, dining with art and jazz and coming soon will be pages devoted to the local galleries and cultural travel opportunities.
